How to Spot an Energy Vampire

An energy vampire is someone who puts you on a pedestal then gets upset at you when you don’t behave within the expectations they’ve placed on you.

You’ll notice that these types of people over compliment you as a way to mask their jealousy.

An energy vampire is someone who seeks out proximity to confident, secure people so that they can mask their insecurities by playing copy cat instead of developing their own personality and working on their own achievements.

You’ll notice that these types of people often bounce from one “bestie” or social group to the next because their sense of Self requires constant external social validation to remain intact.

An energy vampire is someone who makes a grand show about how “woke” they are and how much an “ally” they can be but maintain neutrality until they can determine which side will receive the most votes.

You’ll notice that these types of people claim to be in solidarity but will throw you under the bus and compromise their integrity to avoid losing social capital.

An energy vampire will take advantage of a generous person’s nature by turning simple favors into heavy obligations.

You’ll notice that these types of people will fawn all over your capacity to give but will vilify you very quickly the second you set boundaries on your time and energy.

An energy vampire will tell on themselves by accusing you of the very things they are guilty of themselves.

You’ll notice these types of people by the way you walk on eggshells, bite your tongue (and your talent) so as not to “make them feel bad” and the way you’re slowly and unconsciously trying to avoid hanging out with them.

Beware of energy vampires, my sisters. You can also spot them by their inability to self reflect.

Get rid of them by focusing on yourself.
